Halloween is behind us, and London is officially stepping into its most magical season. Every November, the city transforms into a festive playground filled with sparkling lights, the sounds of Christmas carols, cosy winter food, mulled wine, ice-skating rinks, and of course — the famous Christmas markets.

London’s Christmas markets are known as some of the best in Europe, attracting millions of visitors each year. With so many to choose from, we’ve selected the TOP 3 Christmas markets you absolutely shouldn’t miss if you’re visiting London during the festive season.

1. Winter Wonderland – Hyde Park (The Biggest & Most Famous)

Best for: Families, couples, thrill-seekers, food lovers
Location: Hyde Park
Dates: Usually mid-November to early January

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is one of the absolute highlights of London’s Christmas season. It’s my favourite festive event to visit each year, and it never disappoints. Whether you’re going with family, friends, or a partner, Winter Wonderland has everything you need for a magical Christmas experience.

From thrilling rollercoasters and classic fairground rides to Santa’s Grotto, the UK’s largest open-air ice rink, a huge Christmas market, delicious festive food, mulled wine stalls, and the iconic Giant Observation Wheel — there is truly something for everyone. You can even explore the cosy Bavarian Village, known for its lively music and warm Alpine atmosphere.

Winter Wonderland is open from 14 Nov 2025 → 1 Jan 2026.

I would highly recommend visiting this event, but keep in mind it gets hectic over the weekends.

2. Covent Garden Christmas Market – Classic London Charm

Best for: Families, photographers, shopping, and magical decorations
Location: Covent Garden Piazza
Dates: Early November to early January

Covent Garden transforms into one of London’s most enchanting Christmas destinations, filled with sparkling decorations, a giant Christmas tree, twinkling lights, and the iconic covered market beautifully dressed for the season. The festive atmosphere here is truly magical — from boutique stalls and artisan crafts to luxury shops, seasonal treats, and live street performers creating a warm holiday vibe. Covent Garden is especially stunning in the evening when the piazza glows with fairy lights and the market hall shines under shimmering mistletoe chandeliers, making it one of the best spots for winter photos and festive strolling.

To get there easily, consider arriving at Covent Garden or Leicester Square tube stations. Both are just a short walk from the piazza, and along the way you’ll pass beautifully decorated streets, lively Christmas displays, and plenty of charming spots to stop for photos, food, or a mulled wine. It’s a picture-perfect festive experience right in the heart of London.

3. Southbank Centre Winter Market – Riverside Magic

Best for: Foodies, couples, riverside walks, casual Christmas vibes
Location: Along the South Bank, near the London Eye
Dates: Mid-November to late December

The Southbank Centre Winter Market sits right next to the iconic London Eye and stretches along the River Thames, offering some of the best festive views in London. This charming Christmas market features wooden chalets filled with handmade gifts from around the world, delicious winter treats, cosy food stalls, and plenty of festive entertainment. It becomes especially magical in the evening when the lights reflect beautifully on the water, a perfect spot for capturing stunning winter travel photos. Loved by both visitors and locals, it has a relaxed, authentic Christmas atmosphere.

If you’re planning to visit, I recommend arriving at Embankment tube station. It’s located just across the river and right beside the Golden Jubilee Bridges. From here, you can enjoy a short scenic walk across the bridge directly to the market, with breathtaking views of the London Eye, Big Ben, and the London skyline along the way.
