Who doesn’t love smoothies?

They are super easy to make, packed with vitamins, low in fat what’s not to like? It is great for a hot weather, breakfast or a quick snack.

But, still need to remember smoothie is not a miracle drink, even if you put lots of different fruits and veggies in one cup it doesn’t mean you can eat cake, crisps, chips for the rest of the day. For me, a smoothie is a nice addition to a healthy and well-balanced diet.

I personally have it 2 to 3 times a week for a breakfast and as an addition to a toast or a bowl of porridge, I also love keeping them simple an affordable to make.

So, here is my top 5 favourite recipes.

1. Banana & Almond smoothie

Banana & Almond smoothie

  • 1 Ripe Banana ( peeled, frozen )
  • 1 Large Orange ( peeled )
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) Almond milk or any other milk of your choice
  • Roasted Almonds
  • 1 tbs of Honey ( maple syrup, dates etc..)

I personally don’t like adding ice to my smoothies because it makes it too watery instead I love using frozen fruits, it gives you that right, creamy consistency.

You can add a few dates instead of honey to naturally sweeten your drink.

I also love putting espresso in my smoothies if having it in the morning.

Use your imagination when it comes to the toppings. My choice would be chia seeds, fresh fruit, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, cinnamon.

You can also make this smoothie thicker and put it into a bawl, top with granola, nuts, fruits, nut butter and enjoy your nutrient-dense food.

2. Green Vitamin Smoothie
